This is the type of article worn by warriors on the Southern Plains as seen in historic photographs and pictographs. Four inch bone hairpipes and hollow brass beads strung to harness leather with brain-tanned buckskin thongs braided at the sides with buckskin bundles tied at the top.

Attached at the bottom of the breastplate is a german silver (nickel silver) gorget and ornaments. The gorget has rocker engraving designs on front and an incised pictograph on the reverse depicting a horse stealing scene. The piece is given an overall aged appearance.

I love to buy and collect artifacts made by the best contemporary Plains artists from all over the world: it helps to learn craft tricks and improve my own skills. This breastplate is a showcase of a museum-quality replica artifact that can be easily mistaken for an original piece. I really love it and will never part with it.
